One Year Later :: Muffin

For the next few weeks, the ladies of Happy Happy Art Collective will be sharing a recap of their adventures over the last year since the group's inception. This is gonna be fun!

Next we have Muffin!

Hi Friends! I can't believe it's been over a year since I joined up with 5 other amazing artists to form this collective! It has been a year full of encouragement and growth. If you ever have a chance to be part of a collective, I say go for it! I have made five incredibly wonderful friends that continue to amaze me with their talent and I feel so blessed to be part of it!

This is one of my favorite pieces that I created for Happy Happy. The Alphabet Series was tons of fun!

The year started off with a bang. I sold my very first pattern to a fabric company, Timeless Treasures. I'm not sure if it actually made it to production, but I'm glad I'm trying new things. I also did some work for Tupperware, which didn't make it to production either, but that's ok too. We all have disappointments along the way, but that doesn't mean we should stop creating art and doing the thing that makes us happy.

I worked with Ecojot, a super eco-friendly company in Canada, to create my own line of journals. They were so great to work with and I love the quality of the journals.

I entered the Global Talent Search this year. I didn't even pass the first round, but it was loads of fun coming up with a design for the brief. I'm so glad that I participated.

I also took the Make It In Design Summer School and created some super fun pieces. Here's one of them.

The highlights of this last year would be creating a Project Life Core Kit. I had full creative reign and it was so fun to see my illustrations and designs come to life into a real product. I love what I do and I love being able to share that with others.

At the end of this year I did my very first show. I created cards and calendars and even cute plush mermaid kits. I didn't make any money (meaning I broke even), and I'm ok with that. It was my first time and I learned so much along the way.

Overall, I had a very exciting year trying new things and growing as a person and as a designer. I can't wait to see what 2015 will bring as I continue to stretch myself to try new things. Thanks for supporting me here at Happy Happy!
